CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears and the Little Rock Trojans will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bear Stadium in the first of three meetings in this year's "Governor's I-40 Showdown," sponsored by Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The Bears (3-7) will host two of the three matchups this season after the third game normally played at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock was moved to Conway because of a scheduling conflict with the Arkansas Travelers, the home team at DSP. UCA was the designated host team at the neutral site this season.

The Bears are coming off a 2-1 series win over South Dakota State last weekend at Bear Stadium. UCA won the first two games 5-3 and 5-0 before the Jackrabbits took the series final 9-1 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Trojans (6-3) had a six-game winning streak broken last weekend when Southern Illinois won both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock. Little Rock had won the opener 10-0 on Friday to extend the streak to six games after a sesaon-opening loss to Eastern Illinois on Feb. 18.

Wednesday's game will be the first road game of the season for the Trojans. UCA had its home series with SIU on Feb. 26-28 moved to Carbondale, Ill, due to winter weather in Conway. The Bears are currently in the middle of an eight-game home stand at Bear Stadium.

UCA currently leads the I-40 standings 16-6, with three points on the line Wednesday. The teams will be meeting for the 83rd time in a series dating back to 1964. The Bears and Trojans have split the past 12 meetings, including last year's two games.

The game will be carried live on The Bear 91.3 and ESPN+.
