FRISCO, Texas _ The University of Central Arkansas placed 163 student-athletes on the 2020 Southland Conference Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll announced Monday.
   UCA's total was the second-highest in the league, trailing only Incarnate Word. UCA had 54 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the spring 2020 semester, which led the league.
   The Bears and Sugar Bears had a combined total of 278 Honor Roll selections for the entire 2019-20 academic year.
   The SLC Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes from the sports of basketball, tennis, golf, baseball, softball, beach volleyball and track and field who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in the semester of their sport. The spring honor roll brings the total of Southland Conference Commissioner's honorees to 2,748 student-athletes for the 2019-20 school year, an increase of nearly 15 percent from a year ago. There were 694 student-athletes achieving a 4.0 GPA for the entire academic year counting the fall sports.
  "We are pleased to highlight the academic accomplishments of so many exemplary Southland student-athletes,' Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "It is extremely gratifying to see the academic success along with the other achievements of these student-athletes. We congratulate our institutions for their support in helping them progress toward a college degree.'
