UCA BEACH VOLLEYBALL GOES TOE-TO-TOE WITH NO. 20 HORNED FROGS

FORT WORTH, Texas – In the second time in as many days, the University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball squad battled it out with a nationally-ranked contender at the Fight in the Fort tournament at the TCU Beach Volleyball Complex. The Bears took on No. 20-ranked TCU in their final match of the weekend and fell by a 4-1 margin.

UCA (2-4) needed all its firepower to hang tight with the Horned Frogs, playing their third match in a 24-hour span. Unfortunately for the Bears, TCU (10-10) proved to be too much as they claimed their 10th victory of the season.

KEEPING SCORE

  • It was more success for the UCA No. 1 pairing of Haley Tippett and Colene Hamilton. The two have worked really well together and improved to 5-1 this season with a 16-21, 21-17, 15-8.
  • Central Arkansas No. 2 pairing of Aly Brinkley and Mackenzie Dear dropped to 2-4 this season with a 16-21, 16-21 defeat to TCU's Victoria McDonald and Jaelyn Greene.
  • Kellen Dunn and Jessica Martinez were hoping to bounce back from a tough day yesterday, but were unable to get past the Horned Frogs' Taylor Bradley and Molly Scheel by a final tally of 15-21, 12-21.
  • The freshman combo of Faith Hasness and Kelsie Sager lost a hard-fought point against TCU's Jordan Westendorff and Caroline White. The Central Arkansas pair is now 3-3 in their inaugural season in the purple and gray.
  • After a 1-1 day on Saturday, Elleson Dunagin and Kimmy Schnars could not find their rhythm in a 16-21, 10-21 setback on Saturday. That duo concludes the first two weekends of play with a 3-2 record.

RECAPPING THE WEEKEND WITH HEAD COACH JENI JONES CHATMAN

"Very proud of Haley and Colene coming away with the win over TCU," Jones Chatman said. "They showed a lot of tenacity and were great teammates. Throughout the weekend we saw several highlight from various pairs or individuals within those pairs that we did not see in our first weekend; so that in itself was a success. A little bit faster turnaround this week since we have the midweek on Thursday, but we will get back at it and continue to improve."
