FRISCO, Texas – The league office announced today that Central Arkansas' own pair of juniors
Emily Doss and
Bailey Waddington were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team. The teams were voted on by a trio of SLC head coaches, sports information directors and compliance members from each school.
EMILY DOSS – SECOND TEAM
Doss, an early education major from Springdale, Arkansas, will add this award to her impressive 2019 collection as she was named to the SLC All-Conference Third Team on November 20, earned two SLC Player of the Week honors and was named to three all-tournament teams to begin the year. Doss earned the recognition after turning in a season-high 578 digs for 4.66 per set. She flexed 12 20+ dig matches and three 30+ performances, including a season-high 35 at Houston Baptist on November 7. After three seasons in a Sugar Bear jersey, Doss currently sits at No. 8 for most career digs with 1,425.
BAILEY WADDINGTON – SECOND TEAM
Waddington, a biology major from San Angelo, Texas, made her second straight appearance on the All-Academic Second Team as she was one of three Sugar Bears to receive an all-academic award in 2018. She will accept the honor after leading Central Arkansas in assists (668) and assists per set (5.61) while ranking third in service aces (21) and fifth in digs (188). She turned in 19 20+ assist matches on the year, including a season-high 33 mark that came against Central Connecticut on August 30 and Purdue-Fort Wayne on September 21. Through three seasons, Waddington ranks at No. 11 for most career assists with 1,469.
