MEET THE MCNEESE STATE COWGIRLS
Â
The McNeese State Cowgirls reside in Lake Charles, Louisiana and find themselves in the same boat as the Sugar Bears as they have also dropped four of their last five, including a 3-0 home loss to Stephen F. Austin on October 5. As a team, the Cowgirls have done well behind the service line as they lead the SLC and sit at No. 6 in the nation for aces per set with 1.93. They also lead in team service aces (114) and rank second in opponent hitting percentage at .163 (Sugar Bears hit for .194%).
Â
Junior Alexis Lambert leads the Cowgirl attack with a team-high 130 kills while six-foot senior Keegan Nelms is four kills behind her with 126. Junior Allison Lippert leads in service aces with 20 while three teammates behind her each have 17 on the year. ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH JOHN NEWBERRY ON MCNEESE
Â
"After a long weekend in Texas, we are looking forward to having a home crowd in the Prince Center for our first Tuesday match of the year. McNeese has always been a fierce competitor, they play a unique style of volleyball that is hard to replicate in practice.
Â
In order for us to earn a win, we will need all of our attackers to be more efficient than in previous games. We need to reduce our service errors but still remain aggressive while serving. The team will have one practice to prepare for McNeese and we will fine tune some areas that are leaking points in order to gain confidence for Tuesday."
