BEAR ALUM ALLDAY CALLED UP TO CLASS DOUBLE-A TRAVELERS

UCA NIGHT WITH THE TRAVELERS SET FOR THIS SATURDAY

This Saturday, June 18, will be UCA Night with the Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

University of Central Arkansas alumni and friends will have a chance to see one of their own in action that night, as the Travelers – the AA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels – called up former Central Arkansas all-american outfielder Forrestt Allday to the roster over the weekend.

Allday made his Travelers debut on Sunday as the center fielder in the Travs' 2-0 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, who featured another former Bear – and collegiate teammate of Allday – in right fielder Logan Moon.

Allday recorded his first hit as a Traveler in the 8th, singling to center field off NWA's Kyle Bartsch to finish the day 1-for-4 at the plate. In the field Allday recorded three putouts, including one on a flyout by Moon in the 6th inning.

9175Allday and the Travs are home for their next six, including two more against the Naturals tonight and Tuesday night before four straight against the Tulsa Drillers, wrapping up the homestand on UCA Night on Saturday. All six games will begin at 7:10pm.

A first-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association and third-teamer by Baseball America in 2013, Allday was an 8th-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox, one of three Bears selected in that draft along with Jonathan Davis and Jeffery Enloe after their Southland Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Regional appearance where they fell to Mississippi State in the regional final with a Super Regional trip on the line.

After beginning his professional career with the Red Sox Short-Season A affiliate Lowell Spinners, Allday spent the 2014 season with the Greenville Drive – the Sox Class A affiliate. In 2015, he split time between the Class A-Advanced Salem Red Sox and the Class AA Portland Sea Dogs.

Upon being released by the organization after seeing action with the Red Sox in spring training, Allday was quickly picked up by the Angels in April and, following a 5-game stay with the Class A-Advanced Inland Empire 66ers and a rehab period following a leg injury, was promoted to the AA Travelers on Friday.

Allday is batting .273 this season and during his stint in the minors has hit .262 with an on-base percentage of .389, getting 159 hits and drawing 106 walks to date while driving in 55 runs and scoring 92. During his two seasons at Central Arkansas, he hit .347 with a .495 OBP, collecting 146 hits, 70 runs batted in, 110 walks, 108 runs scored and 22 stolen bases and was a two-time All-Southland Conference selection, the 2013 Southland Conference Tournament MVP and the 2013 Southland Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year.

The deadline to purchase tickets for the UCA Night with the Travelers is tomorrow, June 14. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children. Price includes admission and all-you-can-eat buffet featuring ballpark favorites.

Buffet begins at 6:10 p.m. inside the stadium at the Tracks Inn Pavilion. First pitch for the game against the Tulsa Drillers is set for 7:10 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance online or by contacting Jesse Thill in the Office of Alumni Relations at 501-450-3130.
