HUNT, SOUTH, SCHNARS TO BE HONORED ON SENIOR DAY

CONWAY – The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears will close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, hosting Stephen F. Austin in a battle for second place in the Southland Conference. The match will be special for another reason though, as seniors Corri Hunt , Amy South , and Heather Schnars will be playing their final match at the Prince Center.

"Each class that you have the opportunity to coach is a special class," said Central Arkansas head coach Jeni Jones. "However, this 2015 senior class will always be special, as they are the core group of players and people that believed in this program and in our staff during the transition. That type of respect and leadership has been essential to our team success. This group of seniors is a tremendous representation of UCA Volleyball, and our staff could not be more proud of each of them. We feel honored to have had the opportunity to coach them."

Hunt, from Cypress, California, has played in 358 sets over 108 matches during her career. She has tallied 458 digs and 44 service aces while dishing out 33 assists. She is tied for 10th in UCA history with a reception percentage of .934 and ranks in the top 30 in both matches and sets played. She will receive a degree in psychology.

"Corri has been one of the captains in this program since our staff took over," said Jones of the defensive specialist. "She has been a great leader on and off the floor and truly bleeds purple and grey to her core. Corri is a winner and she is the type of player that, no matter what the score, knows she can win. With these qualities, it's no wonder that UCA Volleyball has been able to achieve what it has with Corri in the program. I am certain that whatever she chooses to do in her life, Corri will continue to be a winner and excel."

South, from Spring, Texas, has played in 276 sets over 88 matches during her career, collecting 1,558 assists, 331 digs, 51 service aces, and 31 kills. She ranks fourth in school history in assist percentage and ninth in both total assists and assists per set, and holds the Central Arkansas single match record, handing out 66 assist against Oklahoma in November of last season. A member of the 2014 Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll, she will receive a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences.

"The bond that Amy and our staff have created over the past nine months has grown stronger and stronger with each week," said Jones of her setter. "Amy is a very competitive player and she brings that 'get after it' mentality to all she does in life. Her pride in her team and this program is absolutely unwavering. It has been tremendous to be a part of her growth as a leader, as a setter, and as a person in our program. Amy's drive to be the best she can be and to be that best that she can be for those she works with will take her very far in life."

Schnars, from Downey, California, has seen action in 395 sets over 117 matches during her time in Conway. A 2014 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, she has totaled 1,392 kills, 765 digs, 165 service aces, and 136 blocks. The 2014 Southland Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, Schnars ranks third in school history in kills, points, and service aces, fourth in kills per set and aces per set, eighth in hitting percentage, and is tied for 10th in reception percentage. Her 487 kills last season are the second most by a Sugar Bear in a single season, and she holds the UCA record for points in a four set match, with 29.5 against McNeese State last season. A two-time member of the All-Southland Conference first team, Schnars will receive a degree in sociology.

"As fierce as Heather is on the court, of the court she is one of the most genuine people on the planet," said Jones of the outside hitter. "She's an athletic player, but she's also a very coordinated player. Heather has the ability to make plays that very few players in the country can make, and she does it effortlessly. When I think of Heather, I think of the phrase 'I will find a way or I will make a way.' Her consistent work ethic and personality bring so much stability to this program. With the individual accolades that Heather has achieved, added to her core personality and no limits mentality, I have no doubt that she will continue to achieve greatness in all that she does."

On the court, the Sugar Bears (13-10, 9-2 SLC) will look to maintain their lead for the second overall spot in the league over the Ladyjacks (17-11, 8-3 SLC). Schnars leads the way for Central Arkansas, averaging a league-high 4.91 kills per set and hitting .342, which ranks sixth in the SLC. South is averaging 10.09 assists per, good for fourth in the SLC. Defensively, Central Arkansas is led by freshman Allie Kemp , who ranks seventh in the Southland in digs per set (4.03), and sophomore Megan Nash , who is tied for second in the league in blocks per set (1.18).

Stephen F. Austin is led offensively by Justice Walker's 2.65 kills per set and Shannon Connell's 9.48 assists per set. Defensively, the Ladyjacks are getting 5.13 digs per set from OJ Olson and 1.03 blocks per set from Jacque Allen.
