On March 27, the softball Bears welcomed the 18th-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane and its 26-1-1 record to Farris Field for a midweek, non-conference clash. It resulted in the Bears' first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent, as they plated a single run in the bottom of the sixth for what would be the only score in the 1-0 victory.
Senior pitcher Kelsie Armstrong held Tulsa to just one hit and one walk, and never allowed a Golden Hurricane to advance beyond first base as she struck out eight in the complete-game victory.
The Bears' run came after senior center fielder Stephanie Lasley singled then stole second, advanced to third on a Melissa Bryant single and – after a Melanie Bryant walk – scored when Tulsa's Aimee Creger walked Sarah Bigej to bring Lasley home. The loss dropped Creeger's record to 13-2, while Armstrong got her 15th win of the season.
