BEARS ROLL TO SECOND STRAIGHT EASY VICTORY

Senior Jeffery Enloe struck out 7 and allowed just 3 hits in Saturday's 13-1 victory.

CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears turned seven hits into 13 runs on Saturday in an easy 13-1 victory over the Murray State Thoroughbreds in non-conference action at Bear Stadium.

UCA (2-0), which beat Murray State 10-1 in Friday’s season opener, allowed just  three hits. Senior starter Jeffery Enloe led the charge, going six strong innings and allowing three hits and one run, while striking out seven and walking just one. Three others pitchers, Griffin Glaude, Taylor Wallace and Connor McClain, combined for three hitless and scoreless innings.

The Bears blew the game open in the middle innings, scoring three runs in the third, four in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Second baseman Blake Marchal had four RBI, while going 1 for 2. Left fielder Logan Moon went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, while designated hitter Ethan Harris had a pair of RBI for the Bears.

Center fielder Jonathan Davis went 1 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a triple. Catcher Michael Marietta had a double for UCA’s only other extra-base hit. Murray State contributed two errors. The Thoroughbreds used five pitchers, with starter Cameron Finch allowing six earned runs in three innings. Tyler Saltsman was next and gave up three more earned runs, walking four.

UCA added four more runs for good measure in the eighth inning as Scott Zimmerle, Kraig Kelley, Justin Treece and Tyler Langley picked up RBI.

The series finale is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Bear Stadium.
