Conway – The Central Arkansas volleyball team will wrap up a truly outstanding season at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Prince Center, welcoming Southeastern Louisiana for the regular season finale. Before the match, the Sugar Bears will honor the careers of six seniors. Central Arkansas will pay tribute to the careers of record-setting setter Marissa Collins, defensive specialist Beth Rogers, outside hitter Jessica Nagy, middle blocker Paige Gantar, outside hitter Kyle Hartman, and defensive specialist Megan Elmquist.
Collins, a native of Pearland, Texas, has had one of the most prolific careers in Central Arkansas history. She holds the career record for assists with 5,267, was named the SLC's Freshman of the Year and Setter of the Year during the 2010 season when she led the conference and ranked 15
th in the nation with 11.54 assists per set. She was named the SLC's Setter of the Year again last season, when she led the conference and ranked third nationally with 12.42 assists per set. She has twice earned All-SLC First Team honors.
Rogers, from Stillwell, Kansas, has appeared in 109 matches for Central Arkansas. She has totaled 522 digs for the Sugar Bears and ranks fifth in school history with a reception percentage of .943 in 1,271 chances.
Carleton, Michigan native Nagy, has seen action in 123 matches for the Sugar Bears. She ranks sixth in school history in kills (1,061), and tenth with a hitting percentage of .260. Last season, when Central Arkansas won its first SLC Tournament Title, Nagy averaged 2.62 kills per set and 0.54 blocks to earn All-SLC Tournament Team honors.
Gantar, who hails from Metairie, Louisiana, has spent just one season at Central Arkansas, after transferring from Arkansas-Little Rock. This season, she leads the team with a hitting percentage of .359 while aveaging 2.30 kills per set. She also leads the team with 0.67 blocks per set.
Hartman, from Phoenix, Arizona, has appeared in 60 matches during her career. She has collected 244 kills for an average of 1.95 per set. This season, she is averaging 2.69 kills per set, and turned in a career-best 16 kills against Oral Roberts on October 12.
Elmquist, from Little Rock, has seen action in 23 matches for the Sugar Bears. She has averaged 0.60 digs per set and 0.29 aces per set. Against Murray State in 2010, Elmquist collected a career-high three service aces.
Central Arkansas will be looking for its 19
th-straight victory on Saturday, as well as a perfect 18-0 record in Southland Conference play this season. The match is set to begin at 2:00 pm.
