BEARS DROP SERIES FINALE 10-7

Logan Moon was 2 for 4 with a triple in Sunday's series finale at SFA
  NACOGDOCHES, Texas _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears allowed a pair of home runs in the sixth and seventh innings and dropped a 10-7 decision to Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference play on Sunday at Jaycees Field.

UCA (23-26, 15-15) led 5-2 after three innings and 6-5 midway through the sixth before SFA’s Bobby Loveless and Max Lamantia had two-run homers in back-to-back innings. The Lumberjacks (21-30, 14-16) then brought in closer Alex Moshier and he recorded eight consecutive outs to earn the victory.

The Bears, down 1-0 in the second, put up two runs on Garrett Brown’s RBI triple and Griffin Glaude’s groundout. The Lumberjacks tied it in the bottom of the inning but UCA answered with three runs in the top of the third.

The Bears strung together five consecutive singles from Forrestt Allday, Blake Marchal, Ethan Harris, Bryan Willson and Travis Snider to take a 5-2 lead.

SFA came back with three runs in the fourth to tie it before UCA got another run in the sixth on Logan Moon’s triple. Loveless and Lamantia then hit their home runs off UCA reliever Andy Steinmetz in the sixth and seventh innings.

Moshier picked up his fifth victory of the season.

Harris was 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Bears, while Moon was 2 for 5 and Marchal was 2 for 5. Five SFA players had two hits apiece.

The Bears are at Mississippi State at 6:30 Tuesday before finishing the regular season at home against league-leader Sam Houston State from Thursday-Saturday.
