BEARS FALL 11-1 AT UT-ARLINGTON

 ARLINGTON, Texas _ The UT Arlington Mavericks rapped out 13 singles and a game-ending home run Sunday in a 11-1 victory over the University of Central Arkansas Bears in Southland Conference action at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks went up early and never looked back, ending the game in the bottom of the seventh on Preston Beck’s solo home run that invoked the run rule.

UCA (11-14, 5-6) was swept in a road SLC series for the second time this season. UTA improves to 17-11 and 6-6.

The Mavs took a 5-0 lead after two innings before the Bears finally got on the board in the top of the third. UCA loaded the bases on a singles by Blake Marchal and Jonathan Davis and a walk to Forrestt Allday. Bryan Willson was hit by a pitch to score Marchal.

The Mavericks totaled 14 hits off three UCA pitchers. Starter Ryan Angus allowed 10 hits and 8 earned runs in three innings. Clint Green finished it for UCA, going 3.1 innings, striking out 2 and allowing just 2 hits.

Brown finished 3 for 3 for the Bears, while Davis went 2 for 3. Beck was 4 for 4 with 5 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Mavs. Ryan Walker also had four hits and scored three runs for UTA.

UCA plays at UA-Pine Bluff on Tuesday and returns to SLC play next weekend at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La.
