CONWAY, Ark. _ The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders put together two six-run innings on Friday night to down the University of Central Arkansas 13-2 in Southland Conference baseball action at Bear Stadium.

The Islanders (11-12, 4-3) handed the Bears their fourth consecutive league loss after starting 3-0. UCA (8-10, 3-4) managed only four hits and committed four errors.

A&M-CC scored six runs in the second inning off five hits and two of UCA’s errors. The big blow was a two-run home run by first baseman Mark Damon. Jonathan Gonzalez added an RBI single and Santiago Ruiz had an RBI double.

The Islanders added another run in the third but UCA answered with its first run in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore center fielder Jonathan Davis drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in catcher Michael Marietta, who had two of UCA’s four hits in the game.

A&M-CC put up six more in the sixth to put the game out of reach, with Eric Weiss hitting a three-run double and Stafford Brantley adding a two-run home run to right field for a 13-1 lead.

UCA got one more run in the seventh inning on another walk, to Garrett Brown, with the bases loaded. Tanner Green came in for the Islanders and struck out Kraig Kelley to end the game by run rule.
