PINE BLUFF — Central Arkansas took eight shots on goal against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday, but UAPB goalkeeper Olivia Wood kept them all out of the net and the Lady Lions held on for a 1-0 victory over the Bears.
UCA (4-4-0) gave up the lone goal of the game in the first half when UAPB's Silvia Fuentes scored on a penalty kick in the 44th minute. UCA goalkeeper Lyndzey Goff stopped the rest of the Lady Lions' attack, recording six saves.
Kristin Pollard led UCA with four shots on goal, with Julie Foerster adding three and Elizabeth Brady one.
The Bears return home Saturday to take on Mississippi Valley State at 1 p.m. in their final tuneup before Southland Conference play begins next weekend with Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana coming to Conway.
