Merrick Cook was named the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season.
The award comes after a superb performance in net from Cook, who earned his second shutout of the season in the 1-0 win over Lipscomb on Friday. The goaltender made three saves in the win, including one in the 80
th and one in the 87
th, preserving the clean sheet late into the match for Central Arkansas.
Cook has been among the best keepers in the ASUN this season, holding the lowest goals against average (0.60), the best save percent (.850), and is one of two keepers in the conference to record multiple shutouts this season. Likewise, Cook has the Bears as one of the best defenses in the ASUN, with the Bears giving up just 0.50 goals per match through six games.
The Bears are on the pitch again on Tuesday, heading down the road to face UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. Kickoff against the Blazers is set for 7 p.m.
