CONWAY, Ark. – Head coach
Tony Kemper and the Central Arkansas women's basketball team have announced the addition of three impact transfers, joining the program for the 2026-27 season. The three transfers bring with them a tremendous amount of talent, collegiate experience and winning mentalities, all things that will help the Sugar Bears as they transition to the United Athletic Conference next season.
Logan Young joins the team from Arkansas Tech, and is a Dover native, bringing another Arkansas native into the fold in Conway. The 5-10 guard adds a creative and productive scorer to the Sugar Bears. As a freshman, Young led her team and ranked sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game, and scored at all three levels. She shot 51.6 percent from the field, 46.2 percent on threes, and 86.1 percent from the free throw line, while contributing 4.8 rebounds per game with team-bests of 41 steals and 26 blocks.
"Logan was a priority signee for us this off-season. She has been very productive at the collegiate level and she has multiple years remaining and the work ethic to continue to improve. She is versatile, can play across the perimeter and scores the ball well at all three levels." – Coach Kemper
Tiani Ellison brings some toughness to the Sugar Bears, bringing size and skill to Conway. She played last season at East Texas A&M, leading the team in scoring and rebounding. The incoming junior averaged 15.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and was tied for team-lead with 36 blocks. She had four double-doubles on the year, and scored 20-plus points ten times, earning a Second Team All Southland Conference nod.
"Tiani brings scoring punch to our inside game. We are excited to land a player that has been so productive at the Division I level in the Southland Conference. She is a force on the block, but also possesses skills that allow her to step away from the basket and remain productive. A perfect addition to our offense." – Coach Kemper
Layla J Cameron is the third and final addition in this transfer class. The incoming senior transferred to Central Arkansas from Tulsa after a stop at Dodge City CC, a familiar spot for Sugar Bear transfers. The 6-0 guard was extremely productive in two years at Dodge City, averaging 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game, helping the team reach the NJCAA Final Four and earning All-American honors. She then played 28 games off the bench at Tulsa, scoring in double-digits twice. Also hailing from Australia, she continues a line of successful Sugar Bears from the island continent, and played on New Zealand's 17U National Team.
"We are very excited to add a player of Layla J's caliber. She is a skilled athlete, and will be impactful in a number of ways. She comes from a basketball family and has had tremendous success at Dodge City CC and Tulsa. She will be a playmaker and decision maker here at UCA, you will love to watch her compete." – Coach Kemper
The three transfers join a Sugar Bear team that has been extremely successful under coach Kemper, winning 65 games over three seasons and reaching two ASUN Championship Finals.
