Bears Walk it Off in the 9th Inning on Adams Hit

CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (23-19) walked it off in the 9th with a 10-9 victory over UAPB (19-24) at Bear Stadium on Wednesday. The Bears have now won 8 of their last 10 games.

Central Arkansas secured the win with 10 runs on 12 hits, including three triples and a home run, while UAPB tallied nine runs on 11 hits with two home runs.

For Central Arkansas, Zeb Allen initiated the run-scoring for the Bears with a solo homer to right field in the first inning. Allen is now tied with the Bears single season home run record and extends his career record to 27 home runs. Parker Gwyn's walk and subsequent advancement to third on Jagger Schattle's single allowed him to score on Jack Runsick's sacrifice fly, putting Central Arkansas ahead 2-1 at the end of the first inning.

In the second inning, Mark Ross singled and scored on a triple by Zach Adams, who then crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Gwyn. Central Arkansas extended its lead to 4-1 through two innings.

The fourth inning saw Central Arkansas capitalize on a throwing error, with Zach Adams reaching base and eventually scoring on Zeb Allen's RBI single. Schattle's double brought Allen home, increasing the lead to 6-1 after four innings.

UAPB responded with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Aaron Grant. However, Central Arkansas managed to add a run of its own in the bottom of the inning, maintaining a 7-5 advantage.

Parker Gwyn's triple in the sixth was followed by a sacrifice fly from Schattle, adding another run for Central Arkansas. UAPB responded with two runs in the top of the sixth, closing the gap to 8-7.

Both teams exchanged runs in the eighth inning, with Central Arkansas maintaining a 9-8 lead. In the ninth, UAPB scored another unearned run, but Central Arkansas responded with Keon Moseni scoring on Zach Adams' double, securing a 10-9 victory for Central Arkansas.

Silas Cowgill delivered a strong start for Central Arkansas, pitching 3 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out two batters. Nicholas French gave up three earned runs, including two home runs, over 1 1/3 innings. Kannon Nesslage provided a stabilizing presence, pitching a perfect inning without allowing a hit or a walk. Hunter Alexander earned the win, closing the game with 1 inning pitched, allowing only one hit and no earned runs.
