LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Central Arkansas track and field dominated the Little Rock Invitational this weekend, claiming the Governor's I-40 Showdown. Both the men's and women's squads earned decisive wins in the two-day meet, earning an impressive 63 top-five finishes in the process.
Overall, the men totaled 207 total points on the weekend, while the women tallied 183 to take the rivalry victory.
The meet was highlighted by a school record shot put throw from
Jaden Schneeberger. His 18.13-meter (59-05.75) toss earned a 1
st place finish.
The Bears would earn nine more golds in the meet, totaling 10 overall.
Joia Perry earned a top finish in the hammer throw, setting a facility record at 61.77 meters (202-08).
Byron Holt won the 400-meter hurdles race with a time of 55.63. Holt outpaced the next closest runner by 0.13 seconds.
In the pole vault,
Sloan Jones claimed the win, clearing 4.45 meters (14-07.25).
Jeff King earned the gold in javelin throw with a 59.56-meter (195-05) throw. King outthrew the second-place competitor by nearly six feet.
In the long jump event,
Maverick Walker took the top spot with a 7.35-meter (24-03.25) leap. Walker's mark was nearly a full foot farther than the closest competitor.
Running in the 5000-meter,
Kayli Myers claimed the victory. Myers crossed the finish line in 18:53.32, over 26 seconds faster than the second-place runner.
Karis Martin posted a 5.90-meter (19-04.25) leap in the long jump event, taking the 1
st place finish.
Raghan Allen earned the top finish in the 100-meter race, finishing in 11.90.
Michael Savariau finished 1
st in the discus with a 48.06-meter (157-08) throw.
The Bears also competed in Azusa, California at the Bryan Clay Invitational meet this weekend, with 10 athletes competing for the Purple and Gray.
Kamryn Baggs placed 30
th in the women's 5000-meter run with a time of 18:02.22. Baggs also competed in the 1500-meter, placing 84
th with a time of 4:50.87.
Ky Bickford took 30
th in the 800-meter, crossing the finish line in 1:50.80. In the 1500-meter, Bickford came in 139
thwith a time of 3:54.15.
Mason Bickle competed in the 10000-meter run, earning a 20
th place finish in 31:38.03.
Lydia Butler placed 81
st in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter with times of 2:16.65 and 4:37.21.
In the 1500-meter,
Jack Dingman placed 97
th, crossing the finish line in 3:46.38.
Logan Dingman earned a top-20 finish in the 800-meter, coming in 18
th with a time of 1:52.17. He also placed 147
th in the 1500-meter, finishing in 3:58.70.
In the women's 10000-meter,
Madeline Hill came in 31
st finishing in 35:26.67.
Abby Machesky placed 61
st in the 800-meter crossing the line at 2:12.06. In the 1500-meter, Machesky took a 94
th place finish, coming in at 4:39.34.
Sequoya Prentice came in 98
th in the 5000-meter with a time of 18.07.19.
Kayleigh Wagnon rounded things out for the Bears, placing 90
th in the 5000-meter with a time of 17:23.48.
Next up, Central Arkansas will return to Fayetteville for the John McDonnell Invitational on April 23 and 24.
