CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams are headed to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m., while running events are set to start at 1 p.m.
The Bears enter the weekend after attending the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational meets last weekend. At the two Texas meets, Central Arkansas earned 12 top-five finishes and set five new outdoor school records.
Jaden Schneeberger and
Clifton McBride Jr. were outstanding at the Bobcat Invitational, earning Field Performer of the Week and Track Performer of the Week honors for their performances.
Schneeberger was selected after placing 2
nd in the hammer throw with a new UCA record of 64.74 meters (212-05). The throw was a new #30 mark in the nation this season, and the ASUN leading mark. He also placed 5
th in the shot put with a 17.19-meter (56-05.75) mark.
McBride finished 6
th in the 100-meter dash event with a time of 10.58, the third best time in the conference. In the 200-meter event, McBride earned a 15
th place finish, coming in at 21.13, a top-100 time in the country and the best in the ASUN.
On the women's side,
Zoe Williams broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the Texas Relays. The freshman's time of 13.58 leads the ASUN and set a new #57 time in the nation.
Bailee Villavaso also broke a Central Arkansas record in the pole vault at the Texas Relays. Villavaso's clearance of 4.00 meters (13-01.5) cleared her previous record by 3.5 inches and earned a 5
th place finish in the event.
