BELTON, Texas – The Central Arkansas Beach Volleyball team wrapped up play at the UMHB Spring Break Bash this weekend, finishing with a 1-2 record across three completed duals in Belton, Texas.
The Beach Bears opened the tournament Friday morning with a 4-1 loss to Texas A&M–Kingsville before dropping a tightly contested 3-2 decision to Tarleton State later in the day. Central Arkansas bounced back Saturday morning with a strong 4-1 victory over Sam Houston. The Beach Bears' final scheduled dual against host Mary Hardin-Baylor was canceled.
Friday Results
Central Arkansas opened the weekend against Texas A&M–Kingsville, where the Javelinas secured four of the five courts to claim the 4-1 victory.
Later Friday afternoon, the Beach Bears battled Tarleton State in a close matchup that came down to the final court. Tarleton ultimately secured the 3-2 win, taking victories on courts one, two and five.
Central Arkansas picked up its points on courts three and four. Ella Layzell and Brooke Sharp earned a straight-set victory over Salome Galvez Lira and Christian Mitchell, 21-19, 21-13. Ella Weilert and Chandler Lawrence also secured a win for the Beach Bears, defeating Emily Vickers and Taylor Orris 21-15, 21-19.
The deciding match came on court one, where Tarleton's Hayden Huber and Bella Parayno defeated Anna Linskey and Natalie Blum in straight sets, 21-18, 21-18.
Saturday Result
The Beach Bears responded with their strongest performance of the weekend Saturday morning, defeating Sam Houston 4-1.
Central Arkansas earned four straight-set victories to secure the dual. Anna Linskey and Natalie Blum led the way on court one with a 21-17, 21-19 win over Tatum Lockhardt and Michaela Panekova.
Madelyn White and Chandler Lawrence added another point on court three, defeating Payton Rink and Freedom Stephenson 21-10, 21-18.
Ella Layzell and Brooke Sharp continued their strong weekend with a dominant 21-12, 21-10 win on court four over Avery Fowler and Ella Folse.
Ella Weilert and Reegan Siewert sealed the team victory on court five with a 21-8, 21-18 win against Lealah Quezada and Haylee Masiero.
Sam Houston's lone point came on court two, where Lexi Higgins and Kate Smith defeated Anna Jaworski and Allison Heck in a three-set battle, 21-17, 11-21, 18-16.
Central Arkansas was scheduled to close the tournament against host Mary Hardin-Baylor later Saturday afternoon, but the dual was canceled.
