CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (12-10, 2-2) secured a decisive 17–12 victory over Bellarmine University (6-14, 1-3) on Friday night at Bear Stadium.
Central Arkansas tallied 18 hits, including four home runs, to maintain its lead despite a late rally attempt by the Knights.
Central Arkansas took an early lead in the first inning, scoring 10 runs.
Parker Gwyn singled to start the inning, with
Kade Seldomridge and
Nate Negre contributing key hits. Negre doubled to drive in two runs, and
Jagger Schattle hit a three-run homer. The inning ended with Central Arkansas up 10–2.
In the second inning, Central Arkansas added another run.
Jayden Sloan singled and later scored on Schattle's single, extending the lead to 11–2.
Negre further increased the lead in the third inning with a three-run homer, bringing the score to 14–2.
The Knights made a push in the fourth inning, scoring six runs, including a three-run homer by E. Watson. Despite the effort, the score stood at 14–8.
In the fifth inning,
Zeb Allen homered, adding another run for Central Arkansas to make it 15–8.
Central Arkansas scored two more runs in the eighth inning.
Zane Denton and Gwyn crossed the plate on a throwing error, increasing the lead to 17–8.
The Knights scored four runs in the ninth inning, but Central Arkansas held its ground. The game concluded with Central Arkansas securing a 17–12 victory.
Caide White started for Central Arkansas, pitching 3 innings while allowing 7 earned runs on 6 hits, including a home run, and issuing 5 walks.
Silas Cowgill delivered a solid relief effort, pitching 5 innings with 3 hits and 5 earned runs and managed to record 2 strikeouts and threw 52 strikes out of 90 pitches.
Jake Jones closed the game, allowing 2 hits and striking out 1 batter, maintaining his composure with runners on base.
