CONWAY, Ark. – Championship season is here and the Central Arkansas men's and women's track and field teams are looking to defend their indoor ASUN titles this Friday and Saturday in Louisville, Ky. Events are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. CT on Friday, beginning with the heptathlon and pentathlon events.
The two-day meet will be held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
The Bears have gained momentum throughout the indoor season, with athletes breaking at least one school record in each meet.
On top of this season's momentum, the Bears bring experience to the meet in the form of the reigning ASUN Indoor Most Outstanding Field Performers, Jayden Schneeberger and
Joia Perry. Schneeberger will compete in the men's weight throw and shot put events, while Perry will battle it out in the women's weight throw.
Sticking with throwers, outstanding freshman,
Jane Musengwa, is set to compete in her first ASUN Championship meet representing the Purple and Gray. Musengwa enters with the second farthest personal record throw out of all competitors in the women's shot put event.
Another freshman who has received ASUN recognition this season,
Zoe Williams, is set to compete in the women's 60 meter hurdles event. She also enters with the second-best personal record time out of all competitors.
Reghan Allen enters the women's 200 meter dash with the fastest personal record times in the event, being the only participant to break the sub-24 second mark.
Brenae Allen will line up with the fastest personal record time in the women's 60 meter hurdles, with her PR of 7.36.
In the women's pole vault,
Bailee Villavaso enters with the personal record mark in the event. Out of the 10 competitors, Villavaso is the only one to have broken the 4.00-meter (13-01) mark.
On the men's side,
Byron Holt will compete in the men's running of the 60 meter hurdles. He holds the second-best personal record time out of the competitors in that race.
Gabriel Torres claims the second-best time out of all competitors in the men's 60 meter dash event.
In the men's 200 meter dash,
Spencer Harvey and Clifton McBride boast the second and third best times overall coming into the event.
Keaton Hansard holds the top record time in the men's 400 meter run out of all 14 competitors.
Nathan Uptagrafft comes into the men's pole vault competition with the best mark out of all the participants, with a 4.70-meter (15-05) mark.
In the throwing events,
Eli Jones and Schneeberger enter the men's shot put competition with the first and second best marks, and Schneeberger holds the top throw in the men's weight throw event.
