CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team is back on the road with a chance to clinch a spot in the UAC Championship in November as the Bears head down the road to take on Little Rock. Kickoff against the Trojans is set for 6 p.m.
The Bears (7-6-4, 4-2-2 UAC) have an opportunity to clinch a spot in postseason with a result against Little Rock. Up four points in the table with two games left, anything other than a loss puts the Bears too far in front for Little Rock to pass up, which would leave the Trojans out of November's UAC Championship.
Last time out, the Bears earned a 1-1 draw against Abilene Christian, thanks to a
Liza Dugan goal in the eighth minute. But ACU managed to even things up in the second half, and the sides played to a draw. The result kept Central Arkansas in the hunt for the first place spot in the Red Division, keeping the Bears three points behind division leader Tarleton State.
The previous matchup between Central Arkansas and Little Rock went in favor of the Bears: a 3-0 win at home. The Bears got out early, scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes, and Central Arkansas cruised to the shutout victory.
But Little Rock (4-6-5, 2-2-4 UAC) has only lost once since that meeting back in September, going 2-1-3 in UAC matches since then. The Trojans were knocked off course in their last game, falling 4-0 at Tarleton State.
In the two games following the loss in Conway, the Trojans rebounded with six goals, scoring three in each game. But since then, the following four matches have only produced two total goals, leaving Little Rock with 15 goals in 15 matches, with six coming in two matches at the beginning of October.
Kickoff against the Trojans is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online.
