FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams opened the 2026 indoor season in Fayetteville with the Arkansas Invitational on Friday. The Bears competed well against stiff competition, earning positions in the finals of more than one event.
Nine athletes placed in the top-five of their respective events across the meet, including third-place finishes from Jaden Schneeberger and Joy Nance in the men's and women's weight throw.
Opening day also saw PRs for 26 different athletes across all events, including new school record in the 3000-meter run set by Jack Dingman with a time of 8:17.18.
Head coach, Josey Weaver said there were a lot of positives and lots of lessons from this meet.
"It's always nice to get the first competition out of the way. We're walking away with a lot to learn, and at this point in the season it's about taking those lessons and applying them to the next meet. We'll look to do that at the Washburn Invitational in two weeks," Weaver said. "It was great to see numerous PRs, lifetime bests, and even a school record set in our season opener. I'm very proud of Jack Dingman for the way he continues to pour into his craft. Overall, I'm proud of the effort our men and women displayed. We have a lot of work ahead of us as we continue building toward the ASUN Championships."
Next, Central Arkansas will head to Topeka, Kansas to compete in the Washburn Open and Multi. For full results, please visit the results page.
