CONWAY, Ark. - After 12.0 wonderful innings against Austin Peay, softball Bear
Bailie Runner was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week, claiming her first weekly award of the season. Runner was spectacular against the Govs in a 2-1 series win.
Runner earned both wins over the weekend, allowing just one run and five total hits across 12.0 innings. In game one, she game up a run in the first inning, and proceeded to go the next 11 innings scoreless. On Sunday, after a contemptuous series all weekend, she dominated the Governors in a one-hit effort, giving up a lone single in the third. The senior ended the series fielding a stone-cold groundout from the circle and a swinging strikeout.
Behind Runner's dominance, the Bears took the season series from the Govs 4-2, winning both the home and road series. She took game three on Austin Peay's senior day, ending eight Govs home careers with an 8-0, five-inning loss. Runner now has five wins in conference play, including the two this weekend. She added six strikeouts to her season count over the weekend, including five Ks in game one.
Runner and the Bears have one more weekend in the regular season, hosting North Alabama for senior day this weekend. Central Arkansas will host the Lions on Friday at 5 p.m. before an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
