CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas beach volleyball team earned several spots on the ASUN's postseason lists, earning one All-Conference selection and two All-Freshman spots.
Anna Linskey was selected to the league's second team, while
Ella Layzell and
Reegan Siewert were added to the conference's all-freshman team.
Linskey, a junior this season, earned her spot after playing atop the flights for the Bears all season, logging all 29 matches at either the ones or twos. She claimed 16 wins on the seasons, 15 of which were at the ones. She is the first player since 2022 to claim a spot on the All-ASUN team.
"Anna has really come a long way this season and been very consistent for us. She's battled through injuries and even missing her main partner for a few games in the middle of the season, but Anna was still able to elevate those around her." – Head coach Avery Thibodeaux
The two freshmen, Layzell and Siewert, made big strides over their first season in Conway. Layzell won six matches to open her collegiate career, five of which came at the threes. Siewert claimed eight wins, with seven of the eight being split between the fours and fives. The pair are just part of a bright future of the Beach Bears, and will continue to be strong contributors as they continue to grow.
"Reegan and Ella were thrown into a lot of tough games early on as freshmen and have come out better on the other side. Being able to make an impact as a freshman is not something that happens often, and they are very deserving of this acknowledgment." – HC Thibodeaux
The trio of all-conference selections lead the Bears as the team heads to Huntsville, Alabama for the ASUN Championships. Opening on Thursday, the Bears will kick off their run as the No. 7 seed, facing the No. 2 seed North Florida at noon CT.
"Overall, these awards are representative of the improvements our team as a whole has made. None of these awards are possible without their teammates and partners that push and elevate them every day at practice." – HC Thibodeaux
