Throwers Claim ASUN Weekly Awards

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas track and field teams were rewarded in the second week of the outdoor season, picking up both the men's and women's Field Performer of the Week awards. On the women's side, Joia Perry claimed the award, and for the men's team, it was Jaden Schneeberger.

Perry had a great day at the Bobcat Invitational, placing sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.05m. She added a 40.38m throw in the discus, and an 11.28m throw in the shot put. Though none of those throws were even season highs, Perry continues to build a resume as one of the best throwers in all of the ASUN, and is making a name for herself on a national level as a sophomore.

Schneeberger placed fifth at the Bobcat Invitational with a personal-best and program record in the hammer throw, putting together a fifth-place throw of 63.58m. He also added a 16.61m throw in the shot put, just shy of his personal best. The hammer throw only adds to the records that Schneeberger has broken this season, now setting one in the outdoor arena.

The Bears are set to compete in the Bryan Phillips Open at Harding University in Searcy this weekend, and that event has been pushed back to Sunday, April 6th.
