LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After splitting the doubleheader yesterday, the Central Arkansas softball team stood tall and took control in game three, claiming another ASUN series with a win over Bellarmine on Sunday.
The 7-1 final score improved the Bears' record to 20-23 overall and 8-6 in ASUN games.
Addie Graham had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4, one of three Bears to log multiple hits.
Lucy Crowder spun a complete game, picking up her fourth win in the circle after scattering six hits and allowing just one run.
Central Arkansas opened the scoring in the second inning, as
Emma Robertson hit her fourth home run of the season. The Houston transfer has four home runs on seven hits, putting a ball out of the park 57 percent of the time that she records a hit. The lead grew in the fourth, starting with a walk by
Lilly Hood. Robertson singled to move Hood to second, and a single to right field by
LJ Smith sent Hood home to double the lead.
Autumn Vessier added one more on a sacrifice fly, allowing pinch-runner
Carmen Uribe to score from third.
After Bellarmine crossed home once in the fifth, the Bears went right back to work. Robertson reached on an error, and moved to second on a wild pitch. Vessier walked, and a
Kylie Griffin single loaded the bases.
Madi Young sent a run home on a sacrifice fly, and Graham's single turned into two on an error, allowing two more runs to cross home. A single to left by
Kaitlyn Graham scored the runner on second, and the Bears jumped out 7-1 late in the game.
