CONWAY, Ark. – Hosting its first-ever tournament, the Central Arkansas STUNT team battled it out against two of the best teams in the country on Friday, ultimately falling to Kentucky before putting up a fight against Maryville.
The day started with the national runner-up from a season ago, the Kentucky Wildcats. And despite not scoring a point, the Bears competed for four quarters, showing steady improvement in year two against a national powerhouse.
Against Maryville, the Bears started strong, and were tied 3-3 with the Saints after the first quarter, scoring in three of the four routines of the partner stunts. After going scoreless in quarters two and three, the Bears added two more points in the fourth, but ultimately fell 19-5 against Maryville.
Still at home to wrap up the weekend, the Bears will take on Missouri State and Southwest Baptist on Saturday. Central Arkansas will compete against the Bears from Springfield at 10:15 a.m., before battling the Bearcats at 12:30 p.m.
