HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – Central Arkansas women's golf is in sixth place after one round at the Puerto Rico Shootout. Camila Negroni leads the way for the Bears, also in sixth.
 
Negroni, a Puerto Rico native, tallied three birdies to run out to a 1-under 71 after 18 holes. She is currently three strokes back of the leader. Emma Leroy Fabry sits just outside the top-10, playing her way to a first-round score of 72. She sank four birdies on the day to lead the team.
 
Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir holds a top-25 spot after Tuesday's first round, scoring a 2-over 74. Ayami Takahashi and Valeria Ramirez are tied through 18 holes, each with a 79 in the books. Takahashi birdied her final hole of the day to carry some momentum into tomorrow's round. Tiana Eldem, playing as an individual, scored a birdie on eight on her way to a first-round score of 80.
 
Southern Miss and UNCG are tied in first place after round one. James Madison is three strokes behind in third place. James Madison's Hannah Rabb is in first, scoring a 4-under 68 on the day. There is a three-way tie for second place, just one stroke back of the leader.
