Preview: Bears Ready to Tee it Up at the ASUN Championship

Dothan, Ala.- The 2026 ASUN Women's Golf Championship is set for April 17–19 at Dothan Country Club, as Central Arkansas looks to build on last season's performance and contend for a conference title.

At the 2025 ASUN Championship at Hampton Cove in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, the Bears placed sixth overall. Valeria Ramirez led the team with a tie for 11th-place individual finish. Central Arkansas also recorded the third-best single round of the tournament with an impressive second-round score. Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson finished tied atop the leader board, with FGCU ultimately claiming the title in a playoff.

Three members of last year's squad return to the championship lineup: Ramirez, Emma Leroy Fabry, and Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir. They are joined by Alethea Paige Gaccion, Maggie Huett, and Aubrey Marx to complete the Bears' 2026 line-up.

Central Arkansas has turned in several strong performances throughout the 2025–26 season. The Bears placed second at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational in March, their top finish of the year, where Gaccion earned individual medalist honors. She was later named ASUN Golfer of the Week following her victory. Ramirez also earned weekly honors after a third-place individual finish at The Judson, where the Bears placed third as a team.

Other notable finishes include sixth at the Magnolia Collegiate, fifth at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, third at both The Judson and the Diamante Intercollegiate, and fifth at the Red Raider Invitational.

"I am excited to get the tournament started here in Dothan, Alabama," said head coach Summar Roachell. "This is a tournament we have had circled since August. We have had a great week of preparation and have competed at a high level all year to prepare for this moment. We know this is our last chance to win an ASUN title, and the girls are determined to bring their best."

All 12 ASUN teams have competed in approximately 10 events this season. Based on points accumulated throughout the year, the conference rankings entering the championship are: Florida Gulf Coast (1), Stetson (2), North Florida (3), Lipscomb (4), Central Arkansas (5), West Georgia (6), Eastern Kentucky (7), Austin Peay (8), North Alabama (9), Jacksonville (10), Bellarmine (11), and Queens (12).
