Women's Basketball Hosts Lipscomb in ASUN Semifinal

CONWAY, Ark. – The No. 2 seeded Sugar Bears continue ASUN Championship play on Tuesday, hosting the ASUN's No. 3 seed Lipscomb Bisons in the Farris Center for an ASUN Semifinal on Tuesday. Battling for a chance to play in a second-straight ASUN Championship Final, the Sugar Bears tip-off against the Bisons at 6:30 p.m.

Central Arkansas (22-8, 15-3 ASUN) advanced after dominating Bellarmine on Saturday, taking a 20-point win over the Knights to stay at home for the next round. Kinley Fisher and Bree Stephens both scored 18 points in the win, while combining to shoot 12-of-14 from the field and 6-of-6 from distance. Once a choppy first quarter ended, Central Arkansas took control, limiting the outside attempts from the Knights while shooting 50 percent or better in each of the last three quarters.

The Sugar Bears have won all three home ASUN Championship games that they've hosted since joining the league, and have won those games by an average of 16.0 points per game. Hosting Lipscomb, Central Arkansas welcomes a team that has lost to the Sugar Bears twice this season, once in Nashville and once in the Farris Center. Those two wins were closer; the home win was an 11-point victory, and the rematch at Lipscomb required a Bree Stephens buzzer-beater to win by two.

Lipscomb (20-10, 12-6 ASUN) heads to Conway after defeating North Alabama in the quarterfinals, claiming a nine-point win in Nashville. Tied at halftime, the Bisons used a 30-13 third quarter to break the game open, then survived a comeback bid from the Lions to win the game. Claira McGowan (25 points) and Bella Vinson (20 points) combined for 45 points in the win, and both Bisons shot 50 percent or better from both the field and from three.

The Bisons have four double-digit scorers this season, led by Bella Vinson's 14.7 points. Claira McGowan scores 13.8, Molly Heard adds 13.1, and Jalyn Holcomb averages 10.0 points per game. Lipscomb enters the game as one of the premier three-point attacks in the ASUN, with four shooters with 45 or more three-pointers, and nine players with double-digit threes.

Tip-off in the Farris Center against the Bisons is set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available. As always, fans can keep up with the action at 91.3 The Bear, with Steve Owens on the call.
