CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's basketball team heads out for its first road game of the season, heading down to Waco, Texas to take on RV Baylor Thursday night. Tip-off against the Big 12 Bears is set for 7 p.m.

The Sugar Bears (1-0) had a successful opening night on Monday, defeating Hendrix 97-40. The season debut saw several new Sugar Bears make their first appearances in Purple and Gray, most notably Tiani Ellison. The transfer junior from East Texas A&M played 19 minutes and posted 17 points and 11 rebounds, both game-highs. Laylah Reese matched Ellison in scoring, adding 17 points and nine boards of her own as the Sugar Bears cruised to a win at home.

Baylor is the first of three Power 4 teams the Sugar Bears will face this season, with Central Arkansas also scheduling games against Kansas State and Arkansas later in the non-conference portion of the schedule. Thursday will be the third time that Central Arkansas makes the trip to Waco, and the first time since 2020. The Sugar Bears are 0-2 all-time against Baylor.

The Bears (1-0) also started the season off with a win, downing Fairleigh Dickinson 87-66 Monday. Five players scored in double-figures, and like the Sugar Bears, one had a double-double off the bench (Kayla Nelms - 14 pts, 11 reb).

Baylor is coming off a season that saw the Bears reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament and win 25 games. Baylor replaced four starters from a year ago and 45 percent of its points, but did return Taliah Scott, who averaged 19.7 points per game last season.

Tip-off against RV Baylor is set for 7 p.m. in Waco, Texas. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. Fans can also follow the game at 91.3 The Bear, with Steve Owens on the call.
