CONWAY, Ark. – After winning their sixth game in seven outings, the Central Arkansas women's basketball team picked up a pair of weekly awards from the ASUN.
Bree Stephens earned her second ASUN Player of the Week award, while
Shae Littleford claimed her first ASUN Newcomer of the Week honor.
Stephens did her usual box-score filling against Grambling State, putting together a statline of 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. It's the third game this season in which the Australian has tallied multiples of every major statistic, and her third game with multiple steals and multiple blocks. The senior also cemented herself in the Central Arkansas record books, tying herself for second-most blocks in a career as a Sugar Bear.
Littleford was also key in the win over the Tigers, adding 13 points and a career-high eight rebounds, along with a team-high four assists and a steal. The graduate transfer hit seven of eight free throws, which proved to be critical in a close game for a team that has struggled at the line early this season. Littleford has scored in double-figures in all but one game this season.
The duo has been crucial to the early season success for Central Arkansas, leading the Sugar Bears to a 7-3 record through ten games. The pair averages a combined 26.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Stephens leads the team in assists (26), steals (17) and blocks (18), while Littleford is second in steals (16) and third in assists (24).
Central Arkansas heads back to Louisiana this week, going back to the next town over from Grambling to face Louisiana Tech on Wednesday. Tip-off against the Lady Techsters is set for 6:30 p.m.
