CONWAY, Ark. – After leading the Sugar Bears to three dominant wins in the Georgia State Thanksgiving Tournament, senior forward
Bree Stephens has been named the ASUN Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Stephens' award marks the first weekly award of the season for the Sugar Bears, and came on a great week in Atlanta. The Sugar Bears went 3-0, winning by an average of 24 points per game. The Aussie averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 blocks per game, all in just 22 minutes per game. She did all of this on 61.5/40/100 shooting splits.
The ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year did her work early, logging more than 25 minutes just once last week. Stephens and the Sugar Bears outscored opponents 56-19 in three first quarters, and out of halftime, the team continued to pour it on, outscoring foes 69-36.
Central Arkansas plays tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Farris Center, hosting Hendrix in the final non-conference home game of the season.
