CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team is back on the pitch on Sunday, playing a home ASUN match against Austin Peay. Kickoff against the Governors is set for 1 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
The Bears (4-7, 1-3 ASUN) are looking to get back on track after dropping a 2-1 final against Lipscomb on Thursday.
Megan Moudy evened the score with a PK in the second half, but a late goal by the Bisons gave the visitors a road win.
Central Arkansas has had four scorers since the start of conference play, including Moudy now with the PK against Lipscomb.
Sophia Backstrom leads the team in assists since the ASUN slate began, logging two helpers against Bellarmine last weekend.
With just three games in the series since both teams joined the conference, Central Arkansas is 2-0-1 against the Govs, including a 2-2 draw in last season's matchup.
Brianna Lopez and
Kayla Hurley logged goals in the draw, and the Bears outshot the Govs 27-16 in the match.
Austin Peay (0-9-3, 0-4) has not had the season it envisioned, having scored just two goals all season. Both goals have come in conference play, although neither has produced a win for the Govs. Austin Peay has gotten goals from Vivian Burke and Abby Mathews, and neither were assisted, leaving the Govs with just four points on the season.
Kickoff against the Govs is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online.
