CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team dips out of conference play one more time this season, facing off with No. 25 SMU on Tuesday. Kickoff in Dallas is set for 7 p.m.
The Bears (3-6-2, 2-0-1 ASUN) picked up another win at home, staying unbeaten at the Bill Stephens Complex, on Saturday, upending Lipscomb 5-2. Four Bears scored goals, including a brace from
Maxim Sheenkov, and Central Arkansas continues to improve offensively as the season progresses.
Sheenkov is now tied with
Devonte Richards as the top scorers for the Bears, each with four goals this season.
Michael Oliveri and
Vaclav Kozeny also have multiple goals to their names this season, and the Bear offense has scored in six-straight games, including two or more goals in the last three.
No. 25 SMU (5-3-3, 2-1-2 ACC) just dropped its first ACC match, falling at Syracuse on Saturday. The Mustangs have had similar success as usual, however, drawing earlier against No. 2 Clemson and defeating No. 21 Notre Dame on the road. The other two losses on their schedule are at Saint Louis and against Incarnate Word. Saturday's loss marked just the second time this season that SMU has not scored in a match.
The Mustangs, while hanging their hats on defense, allowing just 11 goals in 11 matches, have had three primary scorers this season. Milton Lopez (6), Mukisa Emmanuel (5) and Stephan Soghomonian (4) have logged 15 of the team's 17 goals, including four of the team's five game-winners.
Kickoff against SMU is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will be streamed on ACCNX, with live stats available online.
