Women's Soccer Hosts Lipscomb on Thursday

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team is back at home for a weekend of ASUN action, starting with Lipscomb on Thursday night. Kickoff against the Bisons is set for 7 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.

The Bears (4-6, 1-2 ASUN) got back in the win column last time out, picking up a 3-1 road win over Bellarmine on Sunday. Three Bears scored in the win, including goals from the team's leading scorers Caroline Billings and Trace Pavatt.

Central Arkansas made some ASUN history in the regular season meeting last year against Lipscomb. The Bisons had won 31-straight home ASUN games, dating back to 2018, before the Bears went to Nashville and won 3-2 in one of the most exciting matches of the year. After going down 2-0 in the first stretch of the match, Central Arkansas battled back, starting with a 7th minute goal from Sophia Backstrom. The Bears weathered 28 shots from the Bisons, and eventually scored the game-winner in the 79th minute.

This year, Lipscomb is 7-3-1, with a 3-0 start to conference. The Bisons have been spectacular to start the ASUN slate, outscoring their three opponents 9-0, including a 5-0 win over Austin Peay on Sunday.

Overall, Lipscomb has outscored opponents 25-11 this season, with six of the team's 11 goal scorers logging multiple scores this season. Bella Carapazza and Hailey Johnson each have five goals this season, and London De Fini leads the team with five assists. Lipscomb has done an excellent job putting shots on frame, with nearly 50 percent of their 150 shots resulting in a goal or a save this season.

Kickoff against Lipscomb is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. As always, attendance is free.
