CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team continues its ASUN start with a road match at Queens on Saturday. Kickoff against the Royals is set for 5 p.m. CT out in Charlotte.
 
The Bears picked up a win in their ASUN opener last time out, gutting out a 1-0 road win over Bellarmine. Devonte Richards punched home the lone score in the sixth minute, and the defense was able to hold on for the win, keeping the Knights scoreless for the next 84 minutes. It extended a streak of scoring in ASUN matches to nearly two years, with the last scoreless ASUN match coming in October of 2022.
 
Central Arkansas has gotten scoring from all over the field this season, with eight goal scorers so far in 2024. This balanced offense has made it impossible for teams to key in on one player to stop, and gives the Bears plenty of options as the ball gets into the offensive side of the field. In goal, Javier Ramirez continues to dazzle. While ranking in the top-ten in total saves (41, 6^th) he so ranks seventh in save percentage (83.7%) and is still eighth in shutouts (4).
 
On the other side of the field on Saturday, Queens enters the weekend with a 2-4-1 record, with wins over Presbyterian and Radford. The Royals picked up a 0-0 draw in their ASUN opener against Lipscomb, surviving 21 shots from the Bisons.
 
Similar to the Bears, Queens has not relied on one man's scoring this season. The Royals have five goal scorers, with no player having more than two goals to his name. But unlike the Bears, Queens struggles to get the ball forward for shots, the team only averages eight shots per game, and has been outshot in every match this season.
