Women's Soccer Set for Road Match at Lipscomb

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team looks to continue a three-match winning streak on Thursday, hitting the road to face Lipscomb in an ASUN match. Kickoff against the Bisons is set for 6 p.m. in Nashville.

The Bears (3-5, 2-0 ASUN) extended their winning streak to three games last time out, defeating ASUN newcomer West Georgia 1-0 on the road. Kelly Van Gundy scored for a third game in a row, deep into the match, hitting a PK with under five minutes to go to put in the lone score of the match.

Van Gundy is now tied with freshman Sophia Backstrom for team lead in goals, with each Bear scoring three. Van Gundy's have all coincided with wins for the Bears, emphasizing the importance that the former Midfielder of the Year brings offensively. But a strong defense has also been responsible during the win-streak, especially late in matches. All three wins have seen the Bears take the lead in the second half, requiring an intense defensive focus as the clock ticks down. Kajsa Pruner picked up her first shutout of the season against the Wolves, and has saved 10 of her last 14 shots on goal.

Lipscomb (5-2-2, 1-0-1 ASUN), one of the best defensive teams in the ASUN, has continued that trend this season, allowing multiple goals just once this season, that being against SEC foe Tennessee. Outside of that match, the Bisons have allowed just three goals all season, posting five shutouts.

The start to the ASUN schedule has been successful for Lipscomb, who defeated EKU 3-0 before drawing a home match 0-0 against Bellarmine. The Bisons have leaned on the scoring of Kiara Pralle, who has seven goals in nine matches, including a hat trick against Ole Miss and a brace against Belmont.

In goal, Kaina Casar has played in seven of the nine matches, allowing just three goals in 540 minutes. She holds a 4-1-2 record with four solo shutouts and a combined clean sheet. Lauren Swoopes has four appearances and two starts, also allowing just three goals. The duo has combined for 30 saves, keeping .833 percent of opposing shots on goal.

The Bears and Bisons kick off at 6 p.m. in Nashville. Thursday's match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available as well.
