CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's basketball program has signed Lake Hamilton's Ty Robinson to an NCAA letter of intent.
Robinson, a 6-foot-4 guard, who finished his career with the Wolves as the school's all-time leading scorer, averaged 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists as a senior while shooting 42 percent from three-point range and 86 percent at the free-throw line.
"I had heard about this young man that scored 49 in the state semis who almost willed his team to a state final appearance," said UCA head coach John Shulman. "Then I watched him on tape and knew that this kid was special and uncommon. He had the "it" factor.Â
"He is a throwback kid that believes in doing the right thing and just outworks everyone. We are so excited that he is joining our family and program as he brings an incredible following and reputation in the state of Arkansas. This young man is different and will have an immediate impact on our program."
Â
Robinson was a three-time All-State selection, a two-time All-State Tournament selection and a two-time member of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas team. He is a three-star prospect, the fourth-ranked prospect in Arkansas and the third-highest ranked recruit in UCA history, according to 24/7 Sports.
Robinson has a 4.2 grade-point average.
"Half the state has been telling me (UCA signee) Layne (Taylor) is the best one out there," said Shulman, "while the other half is telling me Ty is. What is nice is that neither one of them care and they will both be wearing a Bear uniform."Â
