JACKSONVILLE, Fla. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears dropped a 3-1 decision to the North Florida Ospreys on Saturday in what was supposed to be Game 1 of a doubleheader after Friday's opener was postponed because of wet field conditions.
However, Saturday's second game of the doubleheader was postponed until Sunday after another weather system came through the area late Saturday afternoon.
The Ospreys (14-7, 4-0) hit a pair of home runs in the second and third innings to give them all the runs they needed in a 3-1 victory. UCA, which out-hit UNF 7-6 but left eight runners on base, got a two-out, ninth-inning solo shot from designated hitter
Preston Curtis to set the final. It was Curtis' second home run of the season for the Bears (9-13, 1-3)
Senior third baseman
A.J. Mendolia and junior first baseman
Jake Trabbie both had a pair of hits for the Bears. Graduate
Jesse Barker struck out six in eight innings but took the loss.
The series will now wrap up with a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. (CST) on Sunday.
