CONWAY, Ark. – There's more basketball on the horizon for the Sugar Bears, and now we know when and where. Central Arkansas will host the first round of the WNIT against the Saint Louis Billikens on Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Farris Center. It marks the first time since the 2018 WBI and the third time in program history that the Sugar Bears will host a national postseason tournament.
Central Arkansas (21-11) earned the spot after finishing runner-up in the ASUN Championship Final, after falling to Florida Gulf Coast. Saint Louis, out of the Atlantic 10, is a first-time opponent for the Sugar Bears. The Billikens finished 17-18 on the season and finished the A-10 tournament in the semifinals, ending their run against Rhode Island. The winner of Thursday's game goes on to play Northern Iowa over the weekend.
Last time the Sugar Bears hosted a national postseason tournament was the 2018 WBI, which produced a run that saw Central Arkansas put up wins over SIUE, Weber State and Nevada before falling to Yale in the championship game.
Thursday's game against the Billikens is set for 6:30 p.m., and will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. Fans can also follow the coverage on The Bear 91.3, with Steve Owens on the call. Ticket prices will be $20 for reserved seats, $15 for general admission and $5 for youths/students.
