ATLANTA – After a torrid streak at the plate this past week,
Kylie Griffin has earned the Atlantic Sun Conference's Player of the Week. It marks the first weekly award for the Bears this season.
Griffin earns the nod after hitting .667 over last week, tallying ten hits across five games. She extended her hitting streak to eight games, a streak in which she has 13 hits. The third baseman followed up a 1-for-3 day against FAU on Tuesday with a showing at the Milisa Moore Tournament that was one for the ages. Across four games, Griffin batted .750, going 9-for-12 at the plate, including a perfect 6-for-6 on Saturday.
The junior kept the offense going all weekend, putting down timely hits and starting games off with hits to ruin no-hitters before they were ever thoughts. Defensively, she was also a steel trap, retiring 14 batters at the hot corner.
On the season, Griffin raised her average to .418, and leads the team with 28 hits and 16 runs scored. She has an on-base percentage of .494, and has just three strikeouts in 67 at bats. At third base, she has a .973 fielding percentages in 73 chances.
Griffin and the Bears play at Oklahoma State on Wednesday, then open start ASUN play this weekend against Eastern Kentucky.
