Conway, Ark. - In an electrifying home match, the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears (13-10, 10-2 ASUN) claimed a crucial four-set victory over the Jacksonville Dolphins (12-12, 7-5 ASUN), winning by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-23.
Central Arkansas dominated the first two sets, opening strong with a .571 hitting percentage in the first set.
Laci Bohannan was a standout performer, leading the Sugar Bears with 23 kills and an impressive .372 hitting percentage. She was well-supported by
Mackenzie Vernon, who added 14 kills and contributed 16 points overall.
The third set saw Jacksonville fight back, with Breanna McDonough leading the Dolphins with 20 kills on a .375 hitting clip. Despite the Dolphins' resurgence, Central Arkansas maintained its composure and sealed the match with a hard-fought 25-23 win in the fourth set.
Caylan Koons orchestrated the Sugar Bears' offense with 47 assists, while the team's defense held firm with 48 digs.
Alexis McDaniel and
Alexa Carranza anchored the back row with 7 and 10 digs, respectively, helping the Sugar Bears secure the win despite a third-set stumble.
With this win, Central Arkansas improves to 10-2 in conference play and remains a dominant force in the ASUN. They'll look to carry this momentum into their upcoming match on Novemeber 8th against Lipscomb in Conway at 6 p.m.
