Sugar Bears Fall to Bisons in Hard-Fought Five-Set Battle

Conway, Ark. - In a thrilling ASUN Conference matchup, the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears narrowly missed victory, falling to the Lipscomb Bisons 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 10-25, 25-19, 10-15). Despite a valiant effort, the Sugar Bears' record moves to 13-11 overall and 10-3 in conference play.

Central Arkansas had standout performances on offense, with Laci Bohannan leading with 19 kills, and Regan Harp contributing 8. Setter Caylan Koons tallied 39 assists, fueling the Sugar Bears' attack. Despite their efforts, Lipscomb's defense kept the Sugar Bears' hitting percentage to .183, with several swings lost to blocks and digs from a tenacious Bisons lineup.

Defensively, Alexis McDaniel was instrumental with a match-high 16 digs, while Bohannan added 7 digs and Koons had 6. The team also benefited from a strong front-row defense, as Allison Holloway and Gabby Tuiaana each put up solid blocking efforts, with Holloway leading with 4 blocks.

The match saw 13 tie scores and 5 lead changes, making for an intense showdown, particularly in the fourth and fifth sets. However, Lipscomb's balanced offense ultimately won out in the decisive fifth set. The Sugar Bears will aim to rebound in their next game and maintain momentum in the ASUN standings.

The Sugar Bears will be back in action Sunday, November 10th, at 1pm against Austin Peay along with Senior Day.
