JONESBORO, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's golf team moved into third place by the end of the Lady Red Wolves Classic, spurred by upward movement from its top three golfers.
Valeria Ramirez and
Madison Holmes both moved up into third, tying near the top of the standings.
The duo both turned in an even 72 on Tuesday to cap their weeks. Holmes, who started the day on hole four, was special down the stretch, turning in birdies on 1-3 to close out the tournament and give herself a late boost. Ramirez, who started on three, did her work early, putting in three birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn to give herself some cushion late. Then, she scored par on her final seven holes to secure the top-three spot.
Emma Leroy Fabry played her way to a 4-over 76 on Tuesday, wrapping up a three-round score of 226.
Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir recovered from a tough start to sink a pair of birdies on the back nine and help herself move up the standings in round three.
Camila Negroni finished her Lady Red Wolves Classic with a third-round score of 83.
ULM cruised to victory, winning by 13 strokes. Troy had one of the worst days of any team, dropping from second to fourth, helping Little Rock move into second and Central Arkansas move to third. ULM's Anna Andrysova claimed the individual medal, followed by Little Rock's Kathrine Vynne in second. Ramirez and Holmes tied with Troy's Victoria Stutts in third place.
Central Arkansas will stay in-state for the next one, playing in Little Rock's Diamante Intercollegiate next Sunday through Tuesday. For complete stats and standings, visit the
