CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team locks back in for an ASUN match against Jacksonville on Friday. Kickoff against the Dolphins is set for 6 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
The Bears (5-4-1) are unbeaten in their last two, defeating Lipscomb last Saturday and tying Tulsa on Tuesday.
Tajio James notched the score against the Golden Hurricane, scoring right before halftime of the 1-1 draw.
Central Arkansas has had a balanced offense this season, with nine players scoring this season. James' goal made him one of four multi-goal scorers, and he ranks third on the team in shots (21) and second in shots on goal (10).
As the ASUN schedule continues, the Bears are currently second in the table, just a single point behind Stetson. With just four ASUN games remaining on the schedule, each result becomes more important as the ASUN Championship approaches.
The Bears and Dolphins have played four times in program history, and Central Arkansas has scored multiple times in all four games.
Pietro Fontana scored one of two goals in last season's match, and
Devonte Richards and
Sohma Ichikawa notched assists.
Jacksonville heads to Conway with a 2-5-4 record and an 0-2-1 ASUN record. Like the Bears, the Dolphins are on a two-match unbeaten streak, having one against Georgia Southern and drawn against Stetson. The draw with Stetson saw 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, as the defenses reigned supreme. The teams combined for just 11 total shots, only putting three on frame.
JU has relied on two primary scorers, Oscar Resano and Cristobal Molina-Campo. The pair has combined for seven of the team's 10 goals. In goal, Christian Sekanina has allowed 13 goals through 11 matches, saving 34 shots for a 72.3 percent save rate.
Kickoff against the Dolphins is set for 6 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex on Friday. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. As always, admittance to Central Arkansas soccer matches is free.
