Women's Soccer Set to Host Stetson in First-Ever Meeting

CONWAY, Ark. – Rounding out a two-game home stand, the Central Arkansas women's soccer team hosts Stetson on Sunday. Kicking off at 12 p.m., the Bears and Hatters battle on the pitch for the first time, playing at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.

Central Arkansas (4-5-2, 3-0 ASUN) stayed unbeaten in conference play with a miraculous win over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, thanks to a last-minute goal from Anna Kerr. The 2-1 win was one of the most complete game of the season for the home team, who competed for 90 minutes and kept the reigning champs from ever getting comfortable in their offensive third.

The offense for the Bears has been pretty well balanced across the roster, with nine Bears logging a goal through 11 matches. On top with three goals apiece is the trio of Kelly Van Gundy, Sydney Brough and Megan Moudy. Van Gundy also leads the team with three assists, a spot she shares with Pavatt. Since the start of conference, Central Arkansas has outscored opponents 8-1, with only the reigning champion Eagles even getting a single goal against the Bears.

Central Arkansas and Stetson have never faced off against one another, with the Bears joining the ASUN three seasons ago. The Hatters are the third ASUN team from the state of Florida the Bears will play as conference members, having already faced FGCU and Jacksonville over the last two seasons.

Stetson closes the weekend with a 1-8-1 record, starting ASUN play 1-2. After opening the conference schedule with their first win of the season against Jacksonville, the Hatters have stumbled since, dropping games to North Florida and North Alabama.

But the bright spot this season has been the scoring prowess of sophomore midfielder Annika Seem. The Milwaukee native has four of the team's six goals, having scored a brace in an early-season match against Air Force. Seem is tied for sixth in the conference with her four scores.

Central Arkansas and Stetson kick off at 12 p.m. tomorrow, with the game on the Bear Nation Network. Live stats will also be available online.
