Women's Basketball Faces Lindenwood in Show Me State

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's basketball team crosses the midway point of its seven-game road swing, playing the fourth-straight game away from the Farris Center at Lindenwood on Wednesday. Tipping off at 6 p.m., the Sugar Bears and Lions face off for the second time in program history in St. Charles, Mo.

The Sugar Bears (3-3) will look to get back in the win column after a heartbreaker in the second half of the Denver Classic. Despite three players in double-figures, including a game-high 16 from Kinley Fisher, Central Arkansas gave up a last-second score to Nevada to fall 67-65 in overtime. Fisher was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 18.5 points per game and 3.0 threes per game while shooting a ridiculous 52 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from three-point range. The Greenwood, Ark., native had a career-high 21 points against Denver, which included a personal-best 11 points from the charity stripe.

Fisher makes up half of the ASUN's most lethal pair of marksmen, which also includes Jade Upshaw. The duo is ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the conference in three-point percentage, with Upshaw connecting on 55.2 percent and Fisher clocking in at 45.5 percent. Upshaw's percentage is the ninth-highest in Division I, and the pair is part of a team effort that has the Sugar Bears shooting the 16th-best percentage in the country, a whopping 39.4 percent from distance.

Last season's matchup between Central Arkansas and Lindenwood saw the Sugar Bears come away with a 55-43 win at the Farris Center. The defense locked up the Lions in the second half, allowing just 14 points after halftime. Kierra Prim was simply unstoppable in that one, scoring 24 points on 77 percent shooting, adding 13 rebounds, 11 of which were on the offensive glass.

This season's Lion squad has started the year 0-4, playing three of the four on the road. Most recently, it was a loss at Northern Illinois, despite 17 points from Ellie Brueggemann. The freshman guard has scored in double-figures in all four games this season, and is averaging a team-high 16.3 points per contest. One of three players averaging more than 20 minutes per game, she holds shooting splits of 46/48/100, hitting 15 shots from beyond the arc.

Lindenwood is in its second season as a Division I athletic program, and is under the direction of first-year head coach Amy Eagan. Eagan joined the Lions after three years at Division II Drury, where she compiled a record of 87-9, winning 90 percent of her games.

Central Arkansas and Lindenwood tip-off at 6 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. Fans can also catch all the action at The Bear 91.3, with Steve Owens on the call.
